Rediscovered ”The Farm” – A lost track from a conflicted bygone era
This weekend, ”The Farm” was rediscovered. Unfortunately, the track only exists as mp3 files for now, as the raw material lost its ”farm samples” (though the beat and Reason files are still intact).
I’m sharing this for one simple reason: it’s a raw memory from a distant time when conflicts took on a different form than today’s political battles. The tracks are an inheritance from 2007, during the final months before everything began to go downhill in the forum world I came from. During those years, many small forums underwent significant changes, eventually merging into Facebook and social media. Only larger forums seemed capable of surviving the transition as everyone moved to communities where all people eventually ended up—and made everything further worse on the new path.
Between 2000 and 2007, when reality TV shows like Big Brother brought many people together on forums who wanted to stay connected after the seasons ended, conflicts naturally arose between different groups. By late 2007, these tensions had escalated to the point where I created ”The Farm” as a summary of sorts. The symbolism of the clucking was something I focused on. It resulted in these tracks, which I thought I had lost or never finished. Apparently, I was wrong.
